Campers will try to list the states with their abbreviations and capitals…some computer research will be done here! They will also learn about 6 major U.S. symbols: The White House, the Bald Eagle, The Statue of Liberty, Plymouth Rock and The Liberty Bell. We will have a 4th of July parade too!

The beach is a major summer attraction! What do our beaches have to offer? Echoes of Nature will come in and discuss our shores with live animals and a specialist!

We will also discuss the superheroes in our everyday lives (our parents, police officers, firefighters, EMS workers and why we would consider them heroes.
Week 6: Artful Antics
Art comes in many forms. We will discuss what some of those are while creating music out of Bamboo and water, in glasses. Campers will paint with some unconventional items. This will be our school Spirit Week as well! We will have Crazy Hat Day, Starmaker Day (wear blue and stars), Mismatch Day, Crazy Hair Day, and Polka Dot and Stripes day!

What is the state drink, song, bird, cat, dog, fish tree and nickname? Campers will find out! We will wrap up this week tasting The Smith Island Cake, Maryland’s state dessert!
Week 9: Our Senses
Campers will learn about the 7 senses. We will play blind discovery where the children have to guess what is in their hand by touch. We will smell and taste things. We will play name that sound and talk about balance and our space in the world around us. Do we all see things the same way? Optical illusions may answer that!
Week 10: Creepy Crawlies
Children love the creepy and crawly things outside. This week they will learn about insects, arachnids and exoskeletons! We will talk about some of the lesser known creepies right in our backyards. A guest speaker will come in to discuss bugs and show us some cool crawly things. Friday will be our End of the Summer picnic.
